Timur Shaimergenov

Kazakhstan

Mr. Timur Shaimergenov is a Vice Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan and an Honorable Research Fellow in the Kazakhstan Institute of Strategic Studies under the President of Kazakhstan. Mr. Shaimergenov also teaches Foreign Policy Analysis at the Institute of Diplomacy at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Kazakhstan. Previously he worked as a Head of the Research and Analysis Division and Deputy Director of the Library of the First President of Kazakhstan at the Nazarbayev Center, a think tank that provides policy analysis on national strategy and foreign affairs. Prior Mr. Shaimergenov served as a Policy Advisor and Head of the Analysis Section in the National Security Council of Kazakhstan, and an Assistant to the Deputy Chairman of Mazhilis in the Parliament of Kazakhstan. From 2009 to 2015, he completed a series of executive education programs at École Nationale d'Administration; Harvard Kennedy School; Said Business School, University of Oxford; Columbia Business School, Columbia University; and the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Shaimergenov holds a PhD in Political Science from the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies, Almaty (2009) and a BA in International Relations from the Institute of International Professions, Almaty (2004).
