Assadullah Zamir

Mr. Assadullah Zamir is the CEO and Partner of Sabzwar Agribusiness and Food Services as well as the Founder of Abreshum Venture, the first Afghan venture capital firm focusing on social entrepreneurship and private sector development. Prior to entering private business, Mr. Zamir served as the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Afghanistan from March 2015 to September 2017. He has more than 15 years of leadership experience both in the public and private sectors focusing on rural development, education, agriculture and natural resource management. Over the years Mr. Zamir has worked in different managerial and advisory positions in the Ministries of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Education, Rural Rehabilitation and Development, and Mines and Petroleum, as well as served as Deputy Chief of Party for a mining project financed by USAID and as a consultant to various World Bank and UNDP projects. Mr. Zamir has also served on the Board of Directors of many NGOs focusing on women empowerment and capacity development. In 2008 Mr. Zamir co-founded a grassroots non-profit organization to serve rural communities in the areas of education for women, sustainable development and skill building. Mr. Zamir holds an MA in Economics from California State University, East Bay (2006), as well as an MBA in Finance and Banking (2002) and a BBA (2001) from Preston Institute of Management Science and Technology in Pakistan.
