Mr. Ruslan Assaubayev is a Managing Partner and Regional Development Director at Korkem Telecom (Open Technologies Group), a leading Kazakhstan IT company focused on smart city projects (safe city, intellectual transport systems, environment monitoring systems, etc.) In this role, he is in charge of the implementation of traffic enforcement and the intellectual transport system “Sergek” in Almaty, Shymkent, East Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions. He is also preparing the company for international expansion to 100 cities in 20 countries over the next 5 years. For the last 10 years, Mr. Assaubayev has been working on government related projects such as e-government, e-license and smart city projects. Prior to entering private business, he worked as a Deputy Chairman of the Almaty Development Centre, an Advisor to the Mayor of Almaty City for IT and Smart City projects and as Head of the IT department of the “NurOtan” political party. Mr. Assaubayev holds an MSc in Information Systems from City University London (2009) and a Bachelor degree in System Engineering from Kazakh National Technical University (2005). He has also completed Harvard Kennedy School’s executive education program on Digital Transformation in Government (2018).
