Mr. Azizbek Omorkulov is the Chairman of the Board of the Development Bank of Kyrgyz Republic since June 2022. Previously, from 2015-2022, he served as the Chairman of the Board and, from 2013-2015, as a Deputy Chairman of the Board of RSK Bank, the biggest retail bank in the country. From 2007-2013, Mr. Omorkulov worked as a Branch Director and, from 2002-2007, as a Senior Dealer of the Treasury Department at Demir Kyrgyz International Bank. In 2021 he was awarded the medal of “Excellence of Banking System of Kyrgyzstan” from the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic for significant contributions in the development of the banking sector during the volatile market. Mr. Omorkulov is a member of the National Climbing Team of the Kyrgyz Republic and took part in the first Kyrgyz Expedition to the Himalaya’s Mount Manaslu (8163 m) in September 2022. In January 2022, Mr. Omorkulov became the first Kyrgyz citizen to sail across the Atlantic Ocean with three other men on a 24-day voyage. He is also a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Kyrgyz Federation of Triathlon. Mr. Omorkulov holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Economic University of Bishkek (2011), an MBA from Teachex Academy in Bishkek (2006) and a BA in Economics from Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (2002).
