Helal Massomi

Afghanistan

Ms. Helal Massomi is a human rights advocate and a researcher who over the years has served in various positions in national and international organizations in Afghanistan. After the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban in August 2021, she settled in Virginia and is currently a member of the Afghan Adjustment Act Coalition in Washington, D.C., a coalition of profit and non-profit organizations that is lobbying for the evacuation of more American allies from Afghanistan and advocating for the rights of Afghan refugees in the United States. Ms. Massomi previously served as a policy adviser on human rights, women’s affairs and civil society at the High Council for the National Reconciliation Office of Afghanistan and as a technical advisor at the Executive Committee on the Prevention of Corruption and System Development in the Office of the Chief Executive of Afghanistan. Ms. Massomi holds an M.Sc. in Policy Research from the University of Bristol in the UK (2021) and a BA in International Trade and Business from Bulent Ecevit University in Zonguldak, Turkey (2017).
