Ms. Farishta Sakhi is currently pursuing PhD in Water Conflict at the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University. Previously she worked as a Director General of the Department of Security Cooperation and Border Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan. Prior to joining the MFA she served 13 years in numerous national civil society organizations, as well as international development institutions advising on institutional reforms, capacity development, conflict resolution, human rights and democracy. She also taught at the American University of Afghanistan. Ms. Sakhi holds an MA in Conflict Transformation from Eastern Mennonite University, Virginia (2010), an Executive MBA from Preston University in Islamabad, Pakistan (2006) and a BA in Commerce from Baluchistan University in Quetta, Pakistan (2001). She also held a Fellowship on Transitional Justice from Cape Town University, South Africa (2005) and worked for the Women’s Leadership Program at the Desmond Tu Tu Peace Foundation.
