Dr. Anar Valiyev is an Associate Provost at ADA University in Baku, Azerbaijan. Previously, he served as the Dean of the School of International Affairs at ADA, and from 2007 to 2008, Dr. Valiyev worked as an Assistant Professor on the faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. Dr. Valiyev is the author of numerous peer-reviewed articles and encyclopedia entries. His areas of expertise are public policy of post-Soviet republics, democracy and governance and planning. Dr. Valiyev received his MA (2001) and BA (1999) in History from Baku State University. From 2001 to 2003, he studied public policy at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University in Bloomington, where he received his second Master’s degree. In 2007, he successfully defended his dissertation at the School of Urban and Public Affairs at the University of Louisville, Kentucky.
