Colonel Grigol Chelidze is the Commander of the Training and Military Education Command of the Armed Forces of Georgia. Previously he served as the Commander of the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Centre (JTEC) at the Ministry of Defense. Since 1993 Col. Chelidze has held various command and staff positions in the Georgian Armed Forces and at the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, including Chief of Staff of Land Forces Command and Acting Commander of Land Forces East Operational Group. He commissioned as an infantry lieutenant from the Georgian Military Academy (2000) and then from the Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst, UK (2003). Col. Chelidze holds an MA in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Marine Corps War College at Marine Corps University, Quantico, Virginia (2015) and a BA in History from the Georgian Military Academy (2000). He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. His areas of interest include military art and science, security studies and international relations.
